Scribing line suitable for free/rectangle shape scribing against LCD panel used
in automotive applications

SHIRAI TECH LIMITED has released the scribing line equipment that is suitable for free (includes other than straight line) and rectangle shape scribing against the LDC panel which is used in automotive applications.

This scribing line can scribe the LCD panel which is designed to be used in future automotive application automatically, on both of A (top) and B (bottom) sides of the panel without flipping it.

The input LCD panel is handed over to the stage that is hung from upper side, the B-side of the LCD panel is scribed by multiple cutters. Next, the LCD panel is handed over to the stage that is located on the bottom side and multiple rollers press the scribed LCD panel from A-side to urge the separating force creating the scribing lines on B-side of it. After that, the LCD panel is handed over to another stage located at the bottom side and then the A-side of the LCD panel is scribed with multiple cutters.

In the conventional scribing method, the LCD panel was necessary to turn over after the A-side of the LCD panel was scribed, and the B-side of the LCD panel was flipped to A-side and then the scribing motion was performed again. On the other hand, this non-flipping scribing method eliminates such flipping motion and reduces the friction between the scribed panel edges that often occurs when the scribed LCD panel is turned over. Finally, this equipment has the function for separating the A-side of the LCD panel and the rectangle-shaped panel chips can be sent out.

The scribing force at the scribing portions on the B-side of the LCD panel is perfectly penetrated because the pushing motion with rollers is included during the scribing process, and it makes easy to separate the processed LCD panel manually with operators and can reduce the friction or chipping created on each panel edge.

The input LCD panel size is compatible with 700 x 100mm (minimum) ~ 1,300 x 780mm (maximum), and the output LCD panel (product) size is compatible with 100 x 60mm (minimum) ~ 1,300 x 450mm (maximum). Also, the thickness of LCD panel is compatible with 0.1mm (x 2) ~ 0.7mm (x 2). For the scribing pattern, both of free and rectangle shapes can apply to single and cell (laminated) panels.
